BH Live Key Facts

BH Live employs over 800 people across the venues, facilities and services and over 3 million visits are made across the venues per year providing a combined annual turnover of approximately £23 million.

BH Live operates high quality conference and exhibition facilities at the Bournemouth International Centre and Bournemouth Pavilion generating over £100 million per annum in direct and indirect economic benefit to Bournemouth’s Tourism, Leisure, Hospitality and Retails business sectors through their Conference, Exhibition and Meetings events. Over 450 major events are held per annum including large national and international associations, political parties, corporate clients, trade shows and catering events with a range of support services to promoters and clients helping to sustain over 4500 jobs within the local economy. There is a theatre and large cultural event provision for audiences ranging from 250 to 6500 and over 500,000 event ticket sales are made per year through BH Live Tickets. In 2011, BH Live launched BH Live Hospitality a catering division with a turnover in excess of £4.5 million per annum.

BH Live also operates an extensive range of sport, recreation and leisure facilities and has achieved a national reputation for excellence recognised by QUEST and the National Benchmarking Survey (NBS). Over 1.5 million visits are made across the four leisure facilities each year, over 300 weekly fitness classes are provided, over 300,000 swims and 200,000 gym sessions are enjoyed and 6,500 people currently have a leisure facility membership package. Over 3000 adults and children learn to swim each week with the Bournemouth Swimming Academy and the Littledown Juniors Football Club, which has operated for 24 years, has over 1000 regular football players in the pre and school age range. Also 70 sports and fitness clubs operate from within the Centres providing a range of activities including martial arts, gymnastics, badminton, competitive swimming and football to both children and adults.

In 2012, the BIC and Pavilion successfully retained their Hospitality Assured status with an improved score on previous years.
In 2012 the BIC acheived entry level accreditation from AIM in association with the Meetings Industry Association, the nationwide 'kitemark' for accredited venues and service providers in the meetings, conference and events industry.
BH Live won the Bournemouth Tourism Award 'Outstanding Customer Service of the Year' in 2011
BH Live was shortlisted as a finalist in the 2011 Dorset Business Awards, ‘Best Employer for a Healthy Workplace’ category
In 2010, the Littledown Centre secured a successful National Benchmarking Survey rating on how the services and facilities are rated on a national level. The Centre also achieved a Quest accreditation in 2011 (a national quality accreditation scheme endorsed by Sport England)

In 2010, Meet Bournemouth won ‘Contribution to International Education Conference & Business Experience of the Year’ at the Bournemouth Tourism awards
In 2010, BH Live was awarded the prestigious RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health) Health Promotion and Community Well-Being Organisation and Partnership Award in recognition of the numerous partnerships that have been built across a variety of partner organisations to improve population health and well-being with particular recognition for the work carried out with cancer patients and their families
In 2009 the BIC/Pavilion won Bournemouth Tourism’s Best Evening Experience award; and were Highly Commended in the Outstanding Customer Service and Contribution to Conferencing and Business Tourism categories.
In 2006/07 the BIC/Pavilion won Outstanding Customer Service and Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Awards
In 2008/09 the BIC was shortlisted by South West Tourism for the Meet England Business Tourism Award; and also shortlisted by AIPC – the International Association of Congress Centres – for the World’s Best Congress Centre.
The BIC was voted Number 1 UK Town Convention Centre in 2006.
