Fitness event to support children’s charity

BH Live has teamed up with Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity (Paediatric Rhuematology service) to run an event that will raise awareness about Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and support a programme for people across Hampshire and Dorset.

A ‘Les Mills’ fitness event is taking place at Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth on Saturday 9 March 2019. ‘Les Mills’ group exercise classes including BodyCombat, BodyPump, BodyBalance and GRIT Cardio will be running from 10.30am-4.30pm with guest instructors from across the region. People who are aged 16+ can take part and the ticket price is £20 per person. Proceeds will be donated to the charity.

“We are thrilled to be working with BH Live and the team at Mountbatten Leisure Centre to raise JIA awareness and vital funds to support our work, says Sarah Hartfree, who is a Paediatric Rheumatology Nurse.

“Our goal is to show children, who have been diagnosed with JIA, that they are not alone and support is available. Charity events and money raised enables us to improve the experience of diagnosis and treatment. We can buy small gifts and treats for the children after procedures which helps to make hospital visits less frightening. We can also run training and education days, psychology sessions and buy specialist equipment to speed up diagnosis to begin treatment plans sooner.”

Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director for Sport and Leisure added, “The Paediatric Rheumatology service does fantastic work in our community. This event, and the money raised, will help more young people and their families, to get the support and treatment they need.”

To find out more about the event and book tickets ask at Mountbatten Leisure Centre or telephone 02393 200401.
